I suppose the harm he is getting worried about is that clerk or his manager could falsely report that you deposited say $50k in cash and theoretically the IRS and other agencies could be all over you, which can at times be more then just a nuisance even if you are innocent of any wrong doing.

I also don't like the idea that buying or depositing $2k and then another $2k in the same day could be considered a crime because you are then considered guilty of “Structuring” your purchases or deposits to avoid reporting.

And I guess I am just generally upset with the government getting so involved in all our monetary transactions esp. the fact that people have been arrested for little other reason then the fact that they were carrying around a lot of cash.
