Sounds more like a cow size red herring, or some other bovine emanation. What power or right does Israel have to bequeath a piece of Iraq to Jordan? Anyway, partition of Iraq is usually mentioned as an unwanted hazard of the neocon schemes, not a goal. Or is this a new propaganda line evolving?

The authoritative German daily adds that the Israeli General Staff Reconnaissance Unit is operating in western Iraq, with Jordanian cooperation. The unit is gathering intelligence on Iraqi missile emplacements and unconventional weapons, in order to identify those targets to be attacked first, in the event of war with Iraq Just such a possibility was suggested by yours truly in a previous post. The concept was based on the probability that Cheney would insist on some variation of the "Western Excursion" plan he proposed to Powell and Schwarzkopf before Gulf War I. Based on problems posed by Scud launches on Israel during that conflict, I am highly confident that Cheney would insist that a variation be included in the final battle plan. I kinda went out on a limb suggesting that Israeli SF types would be involved ;o} but that eventually does not now surprise me. Still, if true, it ranks as serious consideration for dotdom. ;o}}}}}} Wrt Sunni Arab Iraq being "handed" over to Jordan. Imo that's a stretch. It would obviously mean the partitioning of Iraq. That's a possibility in the far distant future, but not now. But stranger things have been known to happen. So WTHDIK?
