From an earlier post:
"Also, patience, temperance, fair-mindedness, and a capacity to enjoy what life has to offer besides money."

Excellent advice on investing. Thanks.

Regarding the post that I am replying to here, what is the symbol for European style DJIA options and is there a listing somewhere of all the options that trade European style? I know about and am long XEO puts. I have been buying 3-6 months out. I will have to look for the negative premium for LEAPS that you referred to in your post.

Tommaso, Tippet et al:

My thanks to both of you for truly excellent and well thought out posts on the use of puts. Both of you are right on the money and lurkers can and should benefit from considering your ideas. There is no dispute with your comments at this end,... in fact, I fully agree with your comments. My comment about put premium was meant to be a generic "heads-up" to folk new to our game, who might not recognize the fact that what you pay in premium has to be a part of the investment equation.

I am delighted that my post has resulted in such excellent commentary. Keep it coming.

Best, Earlie

With Euro style options it is assumed that the proceeds from the sale are invested in something risk-free. I think the decrease in negative premium has to do with the big decrease in risk-free interest rates. Glad to see you making $$ on both DOW going down and decrease in negative premium. Good trade!
