You posted an article that suggests the US DOES assume a coup would save them actually having to fight. Maybe so. But maybe not. And if not, it is a stupid assumption.

Do you mean that an assumption that there will be a coup is a stupid one or that an assumption that a coup would allow us to avoid war is stupid? Or, perhaps, that if a coup happens and we still can't avoid war, then the assumption, whatever it was, was stupid? Could you clarify what you meant? Thanks.
