LindyBill, what the heck does this have to do with Foreign Affairs, the alleged topic of this thread? You're getting a little obsessive with the political meanderings here.

As for this specific message, ever hear of a filibuster? Takes 60 votes to override. Steamrolling things through the Senate doesn't tend to work very well in practice, the Senate is usually pretty protective of its prerogatives. The article correctly points this out.

But the senior Republican aide said Democrats are responsible for the heated partisanship that has put the Senate in this quagmire.

Snort. After 8 years of Clinton hatred, Republicans whining about "heated partisanship" goes off the irony scale.
