'72 to 74' Ratal, you may have missed the point. It didn't take 30 years to jump back. The DOW was at 600's and I was really broke. Could only invest $50 a month. Four years later I owned a house and a large chunk of land that is well over a million on todays market. Some of those stocks (like Atari) got me 1200 percent in weeks. Even at my age of 63 you need to be aggressive on part of your portfolio or watch your retirement income be lost as gradually you reduce the principle.

Dear Ratan: The economy seems to move in cyles (I liken it to a person breathing) and nothing seems to stop that. We are in a down cycle now, I suspect 5 years from now we will be in an up cycle and this will all be forgotten. I dont expect this problem to last anything like 30 years. jdn
