<< Take 10% of the military budgets of the world and 10% of the US and European farm supports and you can increase the aid to underdeveloped countries many times. Properly used these monies could easily(in our life time) solve their poverty problems in ways which would make them self-supporting(also in the USA). This would put a damper on many problems, unfortunately religious fundamentalism would only be reduced, not eliminated by such a course of action.>>

Noel, are you referring to the "root causes" of the Islamist problem? You are not suggesting that the US is partly to blame for 9/11 because it spends too much on the military and not enough in the Third World, are you?

The Canadians and Europeans I have met are at best tepid about the great American democracy especially since a prerequisite for a great democracy is voter participation.

Somehow, with your rhetoric about "US Imperialism", I can't imagine you spend much time associating with people who hold any other kind of opinion..

And I'm sure even some of them quietly "wonder" about your logic..

Have you thought about moving to Canada?

Hawk

"The Canadians and Europeans I have met are at best tepid..."

No doubt.
