I agree. I think it's time for dividends to start flowing to shareholders. I'd love to get a cheque or check in the post from QUALCOMM.

Just a small dividend would be fine. If they divided the growing stack of cash into two piles, one for reinvestment and one for dividends, I think the shareholders would love it and reward the company with a higher share price.

Given the context of stock market mayhem, for QUALCOMM to not only be enjoying very rapid market share growth, a growing pile of cash and to start paying dividends, having immediately signed off on CEO guarantee on the accounts, there would be sudden recognition of all that has been achieved since 1985.

It would be like a bright beacon of hope amid market desolation.

Maybe it's time for a shareholder vote on the matter.

PS: People seem to be noticing anyway = in another desolate day in the markets, QUALCOMM is one of the very few companies with an increased share price. Imagine the turbo boost that the start of dividend payments would create. It would go on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.

Incidentally, at $2.4 bn, QUALCOMM could buy Lucent and therefore Flarion and the flash-OFDM stuff. Not to mention RoamAD for less than that.

i would think cisco would have something to say about that.
