Clinton actually was a very welcome Berlin visitor on October 3, the celebration day of 12 years of reunification.

Chancellor Schröder did not whip up anti-Americanism in Germany. It was there already.

I don't think there's anti-Americanism in Germany. The mood is more like the one of protestors during the Bush visit in May who carried signs: "Berlin welcomes Mr. Clinton".
