i lived downtown in '94, afterward up on myrtle ave. near emma willard school (they filmed much of that movie, scent of a woman, there, btw)

i know the bars you mention, they never seemed to have much going on except people eating dinner, though i rmemeber the alehouse or troy brewpub (might be the same place?) started picking up when i visited a few years later. for us it was basically elda's or sutter's (think sutter's is called the ruck now), we would go out around 1 after parties up the hill died down
