No Americans visited the plant for more than one year prior to the accident, and

Hawk, I suggest you drop the Bhopal accident in India as "not being Americas fault".

A company is either responsible for its products and it's operations or it is not. The fact that no Americans visited the plant for more then one year does not mean the parent company was not responsible for what went on there. There are countless ways a parent company can lean on a sub division and actually cause accidents. A very simple example is the Asbestos industry or even the mining industry. What level of safety protection is afforded the workers during the working day to protect the lungs??

The Bhopal incident was an appalling accident that should be of concern to everybody. Lets just leave it at that.

O.T. Bhopal Disaster. Some may be interested in reading the Arthur D. Little report on the event. It was demonstrated that the disaster was not an accident but resulted from sabotage by a disgruntled plant operator.
