Finding the gun would be the most inefficient way of finding the perpetrator that I could imagine. I certainly don't think everyone in DC with a .223 should have to bring it down to the cops and turn it in. And by the way, there's no constitutional amendment that says the right to keep and drive cars shall not be infringed. Maybe there should be.
