OT

It is ironic that a news blurb in yesterday's Mercury News said that Bush threatened to veto the whole defense bill because it contains provisions to offer veterans full pensions without subtracting, dollar for dollar, the amount they get from the Veteran's Administration for disability.

Go, fight to protect our Middle East oil interests, but if you are wounded don't think your retirement compensation will cut into the money allocated for tax breaks for the rich.

OT - I think the rhetoric from Bush has up to now been an attempt to get Iraq to think better of what it is doing. It hasn't worked. It may have had some impact on Iran and N. Korea - only the intelligence community would know.
