Always the "objective" commentary, Nadine. I thought Republicans were supposed to be big on "original intent", but I guess that's only when it cuts the right way. A more concise quote:

We have no eternal allies and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are perpetual and eternal and those interests it is our duty to follow. conservativeforum.org

You can argue that Perle and the neocons off planning war and occupation throughout the middle east and wherever are really, deeply concerned about our interests, but it sure seems like they have a pretty eternal set of enemies and allies in their hearts. They'll probably get their way too, as long as Rove and the political operatives can meld it into W's "interests". Subjectively speaking, of course, I wouldn't want to be seen in the vicinity of your "objective" turf.
