I would say that someone who is self-interested should care more about being degraded than being in poor health. There ya go with the "shoulds" again. <g> Look, if you're an alcoholic and your value system causes you to feel degraded so you get sober, that's great. If you're an alcoholic and you recognize that you could be more successful in life if you didn't drink so you get sober, that's great, as well. Who cares? Would you rather the latter person stay a drunk until he felt degraded and appreciated the morality of the matter? Or would you rather he just get healthy? That's a rhetorical question. I'm not suggesting you're a sociopath. <g>
