As I said, define self- interest primarily as upholding your values, and I think we are getting somewhere........

Back a few hundred, or perhaps a few thousand, posts, Tim and I were discussing this. I said that that I see my self interest primarily in modeling the principles that support the life I want to be able to live. Perhaps you missed that. I know that bogeymen can be very distracting...

I think it is hard to know what people would really do, when confronted with a horrible death. I find people willing to compromise their beliefs for much less than fear of death. I expect that most people who would tell you they would be upstanding, really wouldn't. And it is hard to blame them.
