Death is the enemy, my friend.

Those who attempt to kill Americans must be stopped by any means necessary.

The question is: what is necessary?

We have the power to wreak death on a scale never seen, and it is our responsibility to limit that to what is needed, not what to what satisfies our blood-lust.

Afghanistan was carefully executed, except for the air corridor allowed to ferry out the Al Queada leadership to Pakistan. Had they been detained or killed many questions would have been answered and some current threats to the US avoided.

Instead of investigating and fixing that, it now looks like authorization is sought to invade and kill in any number, anywhere, starting with Iraq.
Considering the failure in Afghanistan, that is more like blood-lust than protection for Americans who supply the lives and money for these actions.

Your comments take the assumption that the more killed, the safer we are.

IMO it is likely the reverse, since suicide bombers are recruited on blood-lust terms, the more slaughter the greater the recruitment. UBL's actions were designed to create slaughter of Arabs and subsequent political power for UBL.
