S.O.S.: Our Country Has Been Hijacked by the GOP

After yesterday's actions by Senator Torricelli, where he bowed out of his re-election bid for his seat in the U.S. Senate, because of some allegations that came to light in a report done by News Channel Four New York last week, I will be very interested to see how the media plays this out. Especially, where this stations only source was a convicted felon who has been known to lie in the past. Will this be the front page story on every network, as well as the news papers, while other more egregious things are occurring within our country? My guess is the former, not the latter. It has come down to this, that if you are a Democrat, you will be hunted down, and if you are a Republican you will be heralded within this country. We only have to look back in recent history to see this occurrence and it should alarm all Americans out there. But more importantly, Democrats or any non-Republican political group.
We had a great president, namely President Clinton who was hunted down, while he tried to help those left behind who were trickled down all too often under the Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations. The GOP could not stand for this. They could not let such a popular president have the accolades he deserved. So, they took us all on a witch hunt of an investigation that derailed this country, while spending the tax payer's money in doing so. Well, after he left office, the investigation was closed, and the results showed nothing was proven. Go figure. Yes, he did have an affair with an intern, yet kept his eye on the ball in regards to getting the people's business done.
Back in 1994, the man who created "The Contract With America" whose name is Newt Gingrich had an affair as well with an intern, fell in love with her, told his wife that he wanted a divorce while she was recovering from cancer in the hospital, and where was the outrage for this action? No where to be found. It all depends upon whether you have a D or an R at the end of your name. The Democrats get targeted, and the Republicans get a free pass.
Am I right in my assumption that only we Democrats are to be hunted down? Have we become the second class citizens of this country? In my opinion the answer is yes. We have primarily the media to thank for this, when they refuse to look into everyone who holds any seat of power.
They will go wall to wall coverage on Gary Condit who too was tried in the media, while Republican leaders have been given a free pass. But little coverage if any is given to former Republican Congressman named Joe Scarborough whose intern was found dead in his office. While Chandra was found dead in Rock Creek Park. Why not the wall to wall coverage on former Congressman Joe Scarborough? You got it, he is a Republican.
Now, let us talk about those egregious matters. It has just come out that we supplied Iraq with dangerous chemical weapons during the Reagan/Bush Sr. administrations, yet there is no outrage by the media on this one, or the country as a whole. It is because these administrations were Republican ones. God forbid this had happened during the Clinton administration. All hell would have broken loose. Thanks to a very heroic Democratic Senator named Robert Byrd who brought this to our attention. In my opinion you will not see anyone clamoring for a full investigation, and holding those accountable for this practice who are present players in this administration. Heaven forbid we are allowed to see those secret Reagan Papers. Which Bush Jr. has chosen to keep secret. Nothing like a free and open society. No, our media will have us focus on Senator Robert Torricelli. You tell me which has done more harm towards our country? Senator Torricelli's actions look like a misdemeanor compared to the Reagan/Bush Sr. felonies.
Now, Mr. Bush expects our brave military to go in and fight and face these weapons that his Dad helped get into the hands of the Iraqi's. Oh and we are supposed to go fight a war, because they targeted his Dad? Why are we expected to clean up yet another Bush mess? Had the media focused on his mess making abilities in Texas as Governor, we would not be living his Texas nightmare on a much grander scale. Could this be the reason why we do not have the support from other very important countries?
Also it has just been reported today, that this war that Mr. Bush and his fellow Republicans want to fight will cost approximately $9 billion dollars a month. Guess who will pay for that, folks? You and I! We will mortgage our future to placate the Bush/Cheney war machine. Speaking of Mr. Cheney, you have heard nothing from our media how he did business with Saddam Hussein when he was the CEO of Halliburton. Again, Republican favoritism. So, we are to attack a past business partner of Mr. Cheney's? How perverted is that? How much longer are we as a country going to tolerate this? You know why the outrage will not be there, is because the media will have us focus on Senator Torricelli instead of these matters. Again, which is more dangerous to our country?
Now the day after Senator Torricelli bowed out of his re-election bid, the GOP is seeking to block the Democrats in a court of law by replacing his name with someone else's name. Again, the GOP goes to court to stop a democratic process. They did so back in 2000 in the state of Florida, where they wanted the counting of votes stopped. Sadly they won that case. Because it usurped the people's will. But, we are supposed to get over it according to them and the media. Hogwash! Once more, they are storming into a court to usurp the democratic process. In my pessimistic point of view, the media will have us all focus in on the wrong doings of Senator Torricelli instead of the GOP trying to stop a democratic process that involves an election. To me, the GOP has done more harm to our election process, and no one is willing to call them on the carpet for this one. In the Bush V Gore case, the primary phrase used in that case was "the irreparable harm to George W. Bush". In my opinion in both cases the operable phrase should be, "irreparable harm to the democratic process". It is my hope that the judge in this case in New Jersey will see right through this, and more importantly, the people of New Jersey will not stand for this heinous action by the GOP.
Folks, the GOP has indeed high jacked the country, and my greatest fear is the effects to it, when we all crash and burn. But how do we send out our S.O.S.? |
