Well he has supported terrorism.

Your right that he might not have slaughtered his own people. His dad did, and I'm sure he would under the right circumstances but I have not heard of any slaughter since he came to power.

Nevertheless, Bashar Assad is a third world thug not anywhere near as dangerous as Hussein.

I agree that he is less dangerous. He is not making as much of an effort to get WMD, and he rules a smaller country that is further away from Kuwait and the main Saudi oil fields (and closer to Israel which he has so far been wise enough not to strongly provoke).
