Hi frankw1900; Re farm products and foreign policy...

There is a strong tendency for farmers in 3rd world countries to be shafted by their governments. Power tends to be centered in cities, rather than the countryside, so the cities get to decide on how products are marketed.

Because of this very strong tendency, I'm not so sure that a decrease in US farm subsidies / import restrictions would have a significant effect in the 3rd world. Nevertheless, I am in favor of it. Our farms should be working on 21st century farm products, not producing foods according to costs circa 1918.
