Not a matter of wanting gold shares to tank, but for them be volatile (go up and down). I have switched from a long-term investment mode (December 2000 to June 2002) to a short-term trading mode, so the moves within a range are actually quite fun and profitable. I encourage you to hold most of your long term positions if you feel comfortable with them, but do not hesistate to trade a few shares along the way. Example; I pocketed a few dollars this summer trading GFI, which now looks interesting again as it may be heading back toward $10
