Hello "N", I've been absent from here for far too long. The semi-equips have stayed too richly
valued for me until just recently. Your message prompted me to post.
I started some select buying late last week in the semi-equip sector as well. The top tier
companies still seem over valued, but there are bargains out there in the smaller stocks.

Happy hunting!!! Eric.

Hello N,

Let us know your picks/prices. There is a lot of fear out there, traditionally a time to buy. But is this THE time?

Jonathan

I'm nibbling at AMAT myself, but I do worry about the sector. I'm concerned that this is the time the music stops, and semis become a plain old cyclical rather than a growth cyclical. "Fortress" balance sheets can only protect you so much if the fundamentals of the business are eating away at the foundations. I don't have access to the historical data, but I'd bet a lot of the steelmakers had great balance sheets in the 1950's.

OT: how do you plan to play the tax loss selling this year? Should be interesting.

Re "I'm buying semiequips now. Price/book multiples are low. There are companies in the sector with fortress balance sheets. "

Was wondering if you would name several of your favorites. Much appreciated, Peter
