UMC's September sales up 43% on a year ago

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- United Microelectronics Corp., the world's second largest foundry manufacturer of ICs, reported today that its net sales for September 2002 were about $171.3 million, up 43.8% compared with the company's sales in September 2001 of about $119.1 million. Month on month sales declined 6.2%, UMC said.

For the year up to now sales are about $1.42 billion, 1.30% down on the same period in 2001.

I'm not sure how accurate a forecast can be out 10 years, but if this anywhere close short all of the equipment suppliers. Even my pessimistic outlook is not that bad.
