The lure of Java is supposed to be "write once, run anywhere" ... something that is typically not true of C++, although one can minimize the pain if one does it right. The two languages have some very different ways of doing thing so the best one normally achieves is arms-length interoperability, i.e., communicating via some standard that both observe.
