Those who thought Mr Bush would immediately bomb Iraq were sadly disappointed and started selling the defense issues.
Those who figured retailers would survive the downturn better than most got some bad news on earnings
Figure they might as well place some bets on beaten-down techs.
Thats a bit risky for me, but it appears to be happening.
IMO Christmas sales are going to be consternation, stores ordering too much or too little, unknown
consumer attitudes, producers unwilling to sell on consignment due to rampant distrust ( would you deliver to K-Mart on IOU's?)
How many Jags, Beamers, and MBZ's should auto dealers have in stock this fall?
I think consumers will opt for the lower priced goods, and those are loss- leaders for autos.
