Liz, also around the 1990 tech collapse was a banking crisis, real estate collapse (commercial and, in silly valley, residential), and Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The only difference was all that didn't follow a bubble in the stock market.

BTW, interesting that CSCO, EBAY, INTC and YHOO are doing fairly well today. Also, the Arms index (aka TRIN) is at only .89, which is bullish as it indicates heavier volume in the rising stocks than in the falling ones even though the major indexes are showing big minus signs. VIX nearly at 50 says a lot, too. If only anyone were listening. ;-(
