I am also not completely certain but I do lean towards supporting the likely attack. I worry that it might be a mess but the mess would just be bigger if we ever had to deal with a nuclear armed Iraq still ruled by Saddam.

We don't know what the opposition will be like if we do move. Will we have to fight the whole army plus new Iraqi terrorists or just the Republican Guard, or even just the presidential body guard (which is not a small force but it doesn't have armored divisions) or almost nothing at all.

The last is not as fanciful as some might think. Its possible that as soon as we make any move on the ground that those he depends on will turn on him. No one moves against him because those who have in the past have died but his aura of invincibility within Iraq may disappear once American tanks roll.
