Well, Iraq and Akghanistan have certainly reduced Israel's visibility with the American public these days... a fact which Sharon no doubt understands.

Re: "Mordechai Vananu".

The fact that Israel is exceeding harsh in it's prosecution of domestic violators of 'state secrets' (and there is no bigger secret... though it is quite an "open" secret these days, than their nuclear program and capabilities) puts them in a similiar category to Great Britain... with it's odious 'Official Secrets' Act.

Re: "Instead, the White House spokesman Ari Fleischer has the audacity to encourage Iraqis to assassinate their leader. Again, what would the international reaction be if Saddam Hussein suggested that Americans should get rid of theirs or that Palestinians should hunt down Ariel Sharon?"

>>> I don't know. I've always thought that Saddam had really TERRIBLE PR capabilities, very poor understanding of how to influence the media... and through them, the public in the West.

>>> Guess murderous dictators just don't develop the right skill sets for media manipulation.

Re: "He warns members of the IDF that one day they could find themselves in an international court being charged with war crimes, and gives the example of former President of Serbia Slobadan Milosovich, now on trial in The Hague."

>>> This is likely true. Which explains why Israel is one of the only 3 or 4 countries in the entire World (I think Micronesia was one of the others :) who have signed bilateral treaties with the U.S. aimed at pre-empting the possibility of any U.S. citizens ever being tried for War Crimes by the new World court.

>>> Perhaps they think - probably correctly - that a U.S. exemption will rub off on them.
