Stan, the lease rates have gone way up because for several years, they have been subsidized by unrealistic depreciation schedules -- leases were coming back with residuals far greater than the car's value, so they've been taking back cars at a loss for a while now. I suspect you'll find Ford ended or will end its similar policy of self abuse. And with the used car market bloating, that situation will only worsen.
