Rob,

The focus of the article was not Elan and Elan's current problems. It was the impact Elan's problems has had and will have on local companies involved in joint-ventures with Elan. There really was no reason for the journalist to argue for or against Elan's survival.

I think the article indirectly was interesting from an Elan-point-of-view as it shows:

- that Elan is serious about shutting down unwanted j/vs as fast as possible,

- that it should not be taken as granted that all j/vs will be discontinued. Those which fit well enough into the new Elan structure will continue to be supported. Like for example the work done at Curis.
