no, i wouldn't like to see us win
the olympic bid.

i'm in favour of supporting athletes
and funding sports - i think that's of
utmost importance to a society, but
given the cutbacks in the province today
- hospital closures, education budget
cuts, the need for social housing,on and
on.

the money that the province has to put up
on first of all, making the olympic bid and then
hosting the games can be far better spent to the
benefit of more british columbians.

if our premier and his cohorts feel that
hosting the olympics is going to be such
a profitable venture i'd like to suggest
that they form a private company, offer
a IPO, raise money, run the thing, and if
they make a profit, hell, they can keep it.
but i suggest that they know there will be
a shortfall and that the tax payer is going to
have to foot the bill. hell, we're taxed
enough already!!

meanwhile, sure as shootin' their individual
companies and interests will have reaped great
benefits. private enterprise and making
money is a GOOD idea. i like it. i try and
do it. but i don't do it at the expense of
joe shmoe.

no, bern had the right idea.

just say no thanks, we'll pass.
