Not sure Claude would remember since he had little interest here.
It was said that they were to confirm or dispute G P's study, because of the SEC. Neither was accomplished, with exception to the vertical and horizontal mineralization and grades consistent with samples from other reports on the property.
I am guessing that was one of these boards rumors.

Here is the Companies Official release:

"The Company retained Behre Dolbear in October, 1998, to conduct the fourth geological study commissioned on Golden Eagle’s Cangalli gold deposit since January 1996 (Trites, January 1996; Paravicini, April 1997; Paravicini, May 1998; Behre Dolbear, May 1999). In addition, Golden Eagle had received reports on site visits from Donald M. Hausen, Ph.D., former chief mineralogist for Newmont Mining (September 1997); Max Staheli, former controller of South American operations for Barrick Gold Corporation (September 1997); and Ronald L Atwood, Ph.D., former chief metallurgist for Newmont Mining (March 1997), all members of Golden Eagle’s Technical Advisory Board. These previous reports had all indicated that the Cangalli gold deposit was a large, widely-mineralized deposit with a good potential for supporting one or more open-pit and underground mining operations. Golden Eagle’s management sought a consulting firm with the stature and expertise of Behre Dolbear to confirm this concept from these prior reports."

"6 figures I think but I don't remember"
I believe it was 7 figures.

<What exactly was Behr Dolbear's role after GE got booted to the pink sheets. >

They were hired to do some sampling and produce a report on the Cangalli property. The scope of this report was, IMVHO, to confirm the presence of widespread gold and tehrefore potential of the property.

IMO, they did confirm the presence gold and the potential to finds something economic.

BTW, I sincerely believe that there is a lot of gold in the conglomerates. But the problem is that no mineable reserves have been established so nobody knows where it is and how much of it can be recovered economically.

GE will very likely produce some gold, but it will be very hard to forecast how much they will produce and for how long. This makes it very difficult to put a very high value on the stock.

However, the main conclusion is that the gold is not evenly distributed and its presence is extremely erratic. There are a number of sweat spots that must be followed on with further exploration.
