HONG KONG -- ASAT Holdings Ltd., a provider of IC package design, and chip assembly and test services, said today (October 10, 2002) that revenue for its second fiscal quarter of 2003, ending October 31, 2002, is expected to increase 8% to 10% percent from the $35.1 million recorded in the first quarter, and twice as fast as previously predicted.

In addition the company said that earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the second fiscal quarter are now expected to be $3.2 million to $3.5 million, compared with original guidance of $1.0 million or greater.

The company said that its increased revenue and EBITDA have been accomplished through re-engagement with past customers and increased penetration with existing customers.

"Three months ago, we launched a series of initiatives called 'Peak Performance,' aimed at improving our company's overall performance," said Harry Rozakis, chief executive officer of ASAT Holdings, in a statement. "Our employees quickly responded to the challenge, and ASAT has already begun to increase market share in the second quarter. In addition, we are experiencing accelerated growth within our new technologies, such as leadless plastic chip carrier, as well as strong demand for our chip-scale packages."
