Communism says "to each according to need" and has no basis in economic reality that better work should get better pay. The US steel industry, IMHO, fell to communist tenants disguised to fool people like you.

The semi industry was driven off shore due to lower wages AND lower taxes. Hell, my job was to train people to do my job (design optical transceiver ICs) over in Singapore as the tax savings from doing so were greater than the product line I helped build would ever deliver us in profits. My job was to invent new US jobs then sell them to Singapore government for tax considerations. Eliminate the US Corporate tax and things would change... of course, spending would have to come way down unless you want more individual taxes.
