It is a legitimate question whether we should have bothered with Vietnam. What is not a question is that had we prosecuted a winning strategy, instead of letting it turn into a war of attrition, we would have prevailed. Instead of marching on Hanoi, or at least closing down the Ho Chi Minh trail early on, so that supply lines to the Viet Cong were cut, we used air raids to "send messages" and worried about winning hearts and minds.......
