Do you think it would help to buy someone such as Veritas?

One interesting exercise for those who want to understand the secular trend still in EMC's favor despite the gloom and doom is to lay out the revenues of the application vendors like SAP, PSFT, SEBL, BEAS, Oracle and EMC during the last 16 quarters to get a clearer view of how the peaks and valleys developed during the worst IT spending environment in decades. This is the type of exercise that is probably more useful in determining for yourself the future earnings power of EMC or any other company.

Ultimately, business process drives software application sales, which in turn, drive infrastructure sales.
