It was a false alley because it wasn't really dealing with my argument with karen. As for the objectivity issue, I simply don't agree that you need a scientific study to make an objective assertion, and I also note that scientific studies are often provisional, and later reversed. In the nature of the case, it is evident that someone with little or no education is in significant danger of becoming a ward of the state, or of his family, because of lack of marketable skills and life skills. In the nature of the case, if you do not know anything about the issues or how government works, you cannot participate meaningfully in the political process. In the nature of the case, if you are terribly ignorant, your choices are going to be pretty arbitrary. Those are all objective observations, extrapolating from what we know.
