Yes BUT I would claim Bill Gates may be remembered as one of the MOST SIGNIFICANT and effective philanthropists in history...He has set up a foundation with well over $20 Billion that is having a big impact on global health and learning...

<<...The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is dedicated to improving people's lives by sharing advances in health and learning with the global community. The foundation was created in January of 2000, through the merger of the Gates Learning Foundation, which focused on expanding access to technology through public libraries, and the William H. Gates Foundation, which focused on improving global health. Led by Bill Gates' father, William H. Gates, Sr., and Patty Stonesifer, the Seattle-based foundation has an endowment of approximately $24 billion...>>

I have an uncle who is a retired opthamologist who volunteers to go to 3rd world countries and help vaccinate the populations (its primary source of funding is the Bill Gates Foundation)...My uncle claims they have made a tremendous impact in some of the poorest countries where he has served (like Pakistan and The Sudan). Bill Gates and his wife give away billions to very good causes. It's his responsibility to be a good steward of the resources that he has. Can we say other billionaires (like Larry Ellison, Paul Allen or Warren Buffet) have given away a substantial portion of their money and tried to make the world a better place...?? Do they have the responsibility to do that...??

btw, I don't agree with everything Bill Gates has done in the business world BUT I admire what he has done as a philanthropist.
