The market loves war? The notion that war improves an economy is old-fashioned. With current technology and efficiency, it really doesn't anymore. We aren't going to build ships and planes and ammo. In 1942, we actually stopped consumption of metals (such as copper pennies) in order to reserve it for military use. So I believe this to partially be a knee-jerk reaction to recent political news. Typical good news from GE (they always beat by a hair) and a Lehman upgrade of IBM isn't enough, IMO. Initial observation suggests it to be a short-lived short-covering / re-shorting op. It is a nice little rally of 500 pts over 2 days. And it could feasibly be possible to see 500 more points over the next few days before this short-covering rally ends. I just would be careful not to read anything more into it, without sufficient longer-term evidence of a turnaround. . . which I just do not see. Hope that helps.

I also agree that Martha Stewart is too small a fish to waste SEC's time. . . but makes for great media. Meanwhile, nobody seems to be watching the whales.
