He was for cutting back fbi ,,, military,, against gulf war. ,, Of course hear say... I am not familiar with his record but it seems this would be more productive .

I gather you are talking about Lautenberg, John. He did vote for sanctions in the Gulf War. As he says on the campaign trail, he voted with the generals, General Colin Powell. On the military, he claims to have voted for pay raises; we'll see if a case can be made, in this pro-military environment, against his other votes. On the FBI, I don't know. My guess is his vote, whatever it might have been, can be easily spun both ways.

The issue that will be very difficult for Forrester to handle is gun control. Jersey is very strongly pro gun control. F has been frequently quoted as saying there is no need for more laws on the books, which Al Hunt argued was the position of the NRA. If Lautenberg makes a big issue of that, it certainly improves his chances.

I would say that this state is now interesting. The more I look at it, I think it's off the table as a contested Senatorial state. We'll now have more fun watching Missouri, Texas, Arkansas, Minnesota, perhaps New Hampshire.
