Well... We should start by not burning coal anymore... And then we should clean up all the radioactivity that has been released from the burning of coal since the Middle Ages.

Coal ash releases more radioactivity than nuclear power plants ever will...(minus a catastrophic disaster far more grievous than Chernobyl). And even if we "scrub" the ash, it still has to buried somewhere. And I can guarantee you that we're NOT putting coal ash into containers and burying it in salt mines.
