About the best we can ask from the Euros is that they will set in the stands and applaud politely, and then expect to be included in the victory party. The Brits will do more, but that is about all.

This seems to be an article of faith, but it's simply not true.

It is true that we said we would do it alone if we had to, but it's also true that we've been picking up allies as we go.
