I would think Ursula Le Guin a little too "left" for you. Strong recommendation - If you like William Gibson (and I read all his books) you will probably love Neal Stephenson. Do try Snow Crash and The Diamond Age, and then Cryptonomicon, which may be one of the best cyberpunk ever written.

Anyway, coming back to the subject - you say you have never read anyone say the US ever intended that Saddam use WMD on anyone. Are you suggesting they didn't know what the anthrax they shipped could be used for??? I had re-posted a quote:
"We shipped seven strains of anthrax to Iraq between 1978 and 1988." (post # 51010)
