--- Your a patent attorney, right?

Nope -- not that it has anything to do with this discussion.

--- RRRR seems to be like one of 10,000 companies that
-- tried to copy... CMGI

Yep.

-- That's roughly the equivalent of inventing and trying to
-- sell Hula-Hoop II

Nope. Because Hula-hoop-I was a great if transient idea. But the idea of taking a web services company public ALWAYS was dumb -- when you're getting paid fees per hour, you'll never get that rich.

It's not like software, where a hit product can sell for $100 (or $1000 or $100,000) but the incremental cost is $1 to copy the CDROM and box.

RRRR defenders claimed it was hot because besides hourly fees it could invest in the best websites, and benefit when they go public. Still dumb -- because most public dot.coms were dumb, and a company whose share value is derivative of the dumb.dots it owns is like the old investment trusts. When the companies it holds crash, the holding company crashes faster -- something that was discovered in 1929 and again in 1990.

-- Even you must admit that your "railing against RRRR" was
-- not exactly rocket science.

I don't admit that. My rather modest comments about RRRR -- suggesting maybe it's business model wasn't so great back -- was wild radical stuff when I made them in 1997-1998. I literally got multiple death-threats -- even though I made my suggestions before RRRR went on its wild ride from 4 to 90 (I sold at 9, perfectly happy with a double). I predicted it would be gone in 5 years, but actually it crashed in 2.

--- "Front Page"* they could have bought.
--- * Chuck, "Front Page" is a Microsoft Program

Yeah. I know that too.

But that comment and your other personal comments having added to the weight of your opinions.
