Just remember what Bernard Lewis pointed out a while back. ME Governments have populations that take the opposite viewpoints of their Governments. If the Government hates us, the people like us, and vice versa.

Bernard Lewis is much less reliable on this point, sitting in his arm chair at Princeton, than a great many others, on the ground in the ME. My guess is that if we had serious intelligence reports about these views, we would find a very mixed bag.
