Therefore, while I don't know how you resolve the issue of their many crimes, crushing them may not be the way to go.

It's not just a matter of justice for their past crimes but their inflexible desire to destroy Israel. Threre are a lot of paralels with Al Qaeda.

OK, not "crush" in the literal sense. ;-)

But it is my view that, should Hamas have the military power of Israel, that they'd be just as dangerous and oppressive as the Taliban. I don't doubt their popularity among the oppressed Palestinians, but it is my belief that those Palestinians are being fed false promises.
