in a 50 mile radius of DC there are probably 10,000 registered .223 caliber rifles.............maybe many more.

Finding a shooter by way of registration is not ever going to work unless the guy is using an obsolete caliber.....and that would be really pushing the probability.

I"m also betting people who are on the right side of gun control are wishing they were in the right place at the right time with the right weapon to cancel this shooters ticket.
