That's because there is no interest in any true results. Enormous pressure is focused on looking for a conclusion, and shaping polls and media coverage accordingly. It has always been to some extent, but has nearly reached a totality. Washington DC is now almost completely unrelated to the rest of America, except by proximity and as recipient of $2 trillion/yr & media and lobbyist fealty. Plus sufficient citizen deaths to maintain fear and control. And thus the personal vs. job approval rating was born. I'll note that the distinction seems to have left the political lexicon
