Hi CB, Nadine believes there is credible evidence linking Saddam to al-Qaida. I don't. But that's not the issue. According to the Israeli war hawks, our war against terror must include all terrorists including some disputed "terrorists" who have never deliberately attacked Americans but conveniently threaten Israel. I am simply pointing out that such a policy is foolhardy and prone for failure if this administration does not address what "terrorism" is, who the "terrorists" are, and the scope of the conflict involved. Otherwise, it is very easy for this war against terror to be politicized and hijacked by special interest groups which, unfortunately, has already occurred with Iraq.

I thought y'all were arguing about whether there was a connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda It was also about showing that only Al Qaeda had struck American targets. I showed that they hadn't.

I have no clue if there is a connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda besides the fact that Saddam possibly knew those acts were going to happen. But I strongly believe that they were high level contacts afterwards between them, and that Saddam, in both parties interest, gave them shelter among his people. Possibly AQ guys be among his last fighters around his last palace.( soon enough). Nor would I have a reason to doubt the Iran granted safe passage to Irak to all AQ members that could make it into eastern Iran. Like Germany with Lenin: sealed train wagon(s). Same reasons. Remember how many Sheiks were visiting Bin Laden before 911 ? He had many channels, high level ones, and knew how to use them.
