That sounds like a bad law. There are certainly many bad laws.

Well, it IS bad law. But it is the law, nonetheless, and the same kind of law exists all over America.

If you want a more ubiquitous example, take a look at your state Medicaid program. Now, I think basic healthcare for everyone is a great objective. But the VERY POOR actually get better healthcare than do the self-employed middle class, IN SPITE OF THE FACT that the middle class is PAYING FOR the healthcare of the very poor. THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A MINUTE. I'm paying for healthcare for the very poor (as well as my own), and they're getting better healthcare than I am!!!

Please tell me how this makes sense. And please understand if I' a little pissed about it. Please understand if I say, "Hell, I'm sick of paying OTHER PEOPLE'S BILLS". And please understand if it pisses me further when I stand in line at the grocery store while the poor black person pays for cigarettes with food stamps, before hopping into their new Caddy.

This type of disincentive is what occurs when you force the middle class (considered "wealthy" by the poor) to pay other people's living expenses.

When the government gets control of these expenditures I'll be happy to contribute more. But don't come back to me wanting more of MY money for the poor until the fiscal irresponsibility of 50 years of liberal congressional rule has been overturned.
